Senior citizens can visit museums for free every Monday clapping
 
 Senior citizens above 60 can now visit six museums for free every Monday.

Participating museums are the Asian Civilisations Museum, Memories at Old Ford Factory, the National Museum of Singapore, Peranakan Museum, Singapore Art Museum and Singapore Philatelic Museum.

Bringing hospital care into the home
 
Singapore's population is rapidly ageing, demand for home care service is likely to grow in the near future. Doctors, nurses and caregivers are cashing in.

Medical services includes 24-hour island-wide home visits by doctors, nurses or therapists.
Companies  also provides, for sale or rent, medical equipments such as wheelchairs, hospital beds and oxygen cylinders.

A service, called mobilehealth, enables patients to undergo health screening at home. Using a range of mobile medical devices, patients can go through physical examinations, such as blood tests, X-rays and mammograms.

Socialise for brain health

Older people who keep busy with family, friends and volunteer work do better in memory tests, a survey conducted by the Harvard School Of Public Health claimed. thumbs up

Test had shown an active social life appears to delay memory loss as a person gets older. Once a brain cell starts to degenerate, it will never recover.

The first 2.8 M centre  to be built for the elderly in Ang Mo Kio Centre to cater for the needs of our ageing population. Area 4,400 sq. m. the size of 11 basketball courts,  built next to the Cheng San Community Club will be ready by end 2009.  thumbs up

For the benefit of our ageing parents, lets hope more such facilities are plan to compliment the Senior Citizens Club. Ultimately, one day, young and able Pungollians will also become an elderly. cheers
