After reading thread like "Chinese for K1"..... I thought, how do you know what your kids should learn by P1, whether English, Chinese, Maths?

Any parents can share?

think should get child to at least know how to read all the alphabets, some of the sight words like is, are, the ... and some simple words... must also be able to write well lah...

as for math.. just to know the sequence of 1 to 10...think for the rest, teacher will teach in P1..

as for chinese, dont know leh... depending on which school your child is getting into.. probably schools like Mee Toh or Nan Chaiu with Chinese as 1st language will expect more from the child...

oh, are the Chinese language taught as 1st language in some primary schools & some 2nd language,  even in primary schools?

yes... think like wat daiso has said.. Mee Toh seems to be teaching 1st language CL from P1
