ERP the blood sucker scheme will remain as long as PAP is around. remember that when the next GE comes. in the meantime we can only tolerate our incompetent transport ministry and their million and 1 excuses

The sole purpose of implementing ERP gantries is to ease road congestion and not to raise Singaporeans' living costs. Even with the new total count of 65 gantries (CAA 23 Jun 2008) and increased ERP rates, the government does not generate profits from the fees collected as mentioned in The Straits Times, 23 June 2008.
The breakdown stated is as follows:

Collection after ERP increase: $70 million
Loss due to 15% reduction in road tax: $110 million
Net Loss: $40 million

i'd take any figures spewed out by PAP with a pinch of salt

and even if the figures are anything close to whats stated, the "loss" is actually the rich's gain which includes our PAP meanisters. big cars save more on road tax you see. worst is the rich will probably have several cars and all will have savings on road tax.
