A Swede way to boost our birth rate.

Finally the authorities feel that it is very important that we should have more local breed. At least 60 % of our population should be locals, born and breed in Singapore. Too many foreigners may not be the best option although it is necessary to bring about economic growth.

The Swede model : ( to encourge population growth ) thumbs up thumbs up

All parents get 13 months of leave, and continue to receive 80 % of their pay packet. On top of this, they can ask for an additional 3 months leave with a daily pay of $ 40,  works out to be about $1200 per month.

Additional allowances..............$225 a month for the first child.
Subsequent child up to the 4th.......gets $380 per month.

Childcare is cheap, capped at $30 per month. ( In Singapore we are paying near to a " K " )

Lets watch out for more news.  cheers

In fact Europe countries such as Germany offers these type of goodies too.

Unlike Singapore, only baby bonus $6000 top up for 6 yrs and MCYS will match another $6000. Cash given only so little bit, not even enough to buy pampers. Baby bonus $12000 not even enough for the monthly child care service. The most can only last for 12 mths at $1000 per mth.

For those who are done with the child rearing phase will definitely say too late.
But the govt gotta start somewhere someday if they want boost birth rate. If it's not for us, at least, for the future generation.

Perhaps, govt can look into issues like medical and education at a more in-depth level. And be more generous with matters related to these two factors.

The two child policy has led to this situation. The reality of the situation is, MM Lee will not live to see the reverse of percentages to the desired target. From1965 to 2008 is 43 yrs to descent to the current level. If new policies are not in place to aggresively encourage pregnancy, the current Pm may not live to see the changes too. And when the percentages of PR overwhelms the citizens, there will be imbalance as only man citizens do national service. Will the Lee family be rememberedto be the cause of Singapore not belonging to Singaporeans?Only time will tell cos by then I may no longer be alive too...a history in the making.
