the revised package is attractive BUT what happens after the child turns 7 years old? Undecided  By then, we'll hv to rely on our own saving, own annual leave, own salary for after sch care/maid payment??? The govt gave more benefits for working mothers with childcare subsidy but no subsidy for after sch care or maid subsidy, the child can't go to childcare after 7 yo or relief for SAHM??  So the birth rate increased and we are stuck with more expenses once the subsidies stopped when the child goes to Pri 1.

I'm not asking for the sky but at least subsidise us before the child goes to secondary sch.  At least 1/4 of their education will be covered for and we can concentrate on their uni education. With these, i probably going to settle for maximum 2 kids only.

In the 1940's and 1950's most family had at least 6 children, some even had enough kids to form a soccer team. When an elder is sick and hospitalised or recuperating in a nursing home, again no problem........all the kids will join hand to pay for the massive medical bill. Today what happen ?? Huh? Huh? one kid had to shoulder everything. Is it possible ??  Shocked

If Singapore allows parents to have a soccer team up to today, we may not have this so called ratio 1.29. Singaporeans are not stupid. We should know how to plan. Remember 10 years ago, the authorities said, there are no more land for HDB in Tampines. Just look at the number of condos coming up in Tampines Central. Just also see how much flats we had in Punggol. Formally only catering for pigs.

So there is still room for expansion. cheers

Singapore is sometimes late for most things. They started to talk about elder problems when our pioneers suddenly found themselves also getting old. As time goes on, besides babies, childcare, there is still the eldercare problem to look into. What about eldercare subsidy for children having to look after aged parents ? chitchat

MOM rejects call for parent-care leave

Giving employees additional days off on top of their annual leave to care for sick parents will increase business costs and discourage companies from setting up in Singapore, said Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Manpower

He was responding to a call in Parliament by an MP for West Coast GRC, to introduce parent-care leave.

Smiley Smiley So it is quite difficult to ask for more .
