brand new car, depreciation value per year is about $15000-$30000 depending on car brand.

1-2 yrs old car, depreciation value per year is about $6000-$10000. Correct me if I'm wrong.

As a starting, it is wise to buy a 2nd hand first, at least can afford to change car every 3 yrs. Buy brand new car, must at least drive for 5 years above to minimise the depreciation value loss.

If you are comfortable with the installment plan every month, give it a try. Experience the advantage and disadvantage of having car. Different people have different life-style and driving habits.

Think I will probably get one soon, cannot tahan the one hr journey going to my work place (Novena) damn tiring. I think to avoid paying too much ERP I will go by Punggol East, Serangoon Road, turn right into Bradell Road, Turn into Thomson Road then kena one ERP only.

I travel to Novena every morning... my route -> Punggol East -> Serangoon Road -> Balestier Road -> Moulmein Road

Set off at 7.50am. Arrive at about 8.20am.

no jams?

Yes. But they are everywhere... how to avoid?

Surprisingly, I need to arrive at the office earlier today, so I left home at 7am... and guess what, I arrived at about 8.45am. Main difference is in the Jam at the junction of Hougang Ave 7, because lots of parents dropping their children off at the school.
