Rivervale is quite near to my blk, just go across via overhead bridge. My blk is nearer to TPE so within 1 km radius.

Just to share, Rivervale is 2nd choice. Our 1st choice is Paya Lebar Methodist Girls (7 km). On 3rd day of Phase 2C, that school called to withdraw my daughter's name. So we quickly went to Rivervale School to register and her name was the last 2. The 3rd choice will be Edgefield.

Anyhow, we knew that it was balloting, we try out luck because 'balloting' means 'if it is yours it will be yours.' So her name was being balloted. Whew.......so the 2nd one should be easy to enter .

There is a back-door to enter, you know:
1. Parents Volunteer
or
2. Join RC

How old is yr child? 3 yrs old? Better start volunteering now don't wait till 1 yr before.

Infact Rivervale is in the 2nd position after Nan Chiau. I didn't realise that Sengkangnese are so crazy about Rivervale Primary School.

Thanks for your input. Anyway what's your criteral or reason that Nan Chiau was your first choice? Any balloting for Nan Chiau as well?

maybe getting a place in the RC will gaurantee you at least higher chance than volunteering....heee....
has seen quite a few PVs who volunteered with various schools but in the end sadly they got balloted out....

rivervale is a good school and it is hard to say whether volunteering will
gauranteed a place also...Wink depengin on lucks also le....

got quite a few frens teaching around all those Punggol & Sengkang neighbouring schools....
basically schools also have different teachers different programs,
if you are lucky or your kids lucky, they get into any school but is lucky to be taught by a good teacher, he/she is indeed counting her blessings already.....

is really also lucks in the end....... smoking smoking smoking

all the best...
dun worry much abt good schools or not...
you are still your kids ultimade educator..dun forget~~~

Nan Chiau is not our 1st choice. I dare not bet my luck for Nan Chiau. After back-door closed (Phase 1, 2A & 2B), vacancy left only 78 seats. Do you know 180 something are still eyeing on that 78 seats, you know.

I am not sure about Nan Chiau's curriculum as I don't have insider info.

Nan Chiau belongs to Ang Mo Kio GRC. We lived under Punggol - Pasir Ris GRC, hence even RC members also can't go into Nan Chiau.

Nan Chiau formerly was from River Valley Rd (Kim Seng Road). At that time, it was also an ordinary school like Edgefield Primary School. I don't know why they shift to Sengkang, they are like 'hot-cake'.

If you are keen with Nan Chiau, another back-door to go: Volunteer for the Hokkien Association.

RC definitely can't unless you move under Ang Mo Kio GRC.
Parents Volunteer very difficult, depends on luck.

Are you good in like flying model-aeroplane, golf, you can volunteer yr time to give the students free lesson.

My view is any primary school is good. Most important is the teachers. If you're lucky, for the next 6 yr of primary education you get good teachers. Also as a parent, you have to do your bit rather than just rely 100% on the teacher.
