If you are saying that children with special needs should be sent to special schools because the environment is better for their development, I have no argue with you. But you are saying they should be sent to special schools because you think other children will lose out, that itself is discriminating. Children avoid children with special needs because they exhibit unusual behaviours that are obvious. That I can forgive, because they do not understand what autism is and how children with autism thinks and feels. However, it is the responsibility of adults, be it parents or teachers to educate children about such to prevent discrimination.

For your information, there is no such thing as 9 types of autism. Autism spectrum disorder is a spectrum disorder. As the word 'spectrum' suggests, there is no two children with autism who exhibits the same symptoms and behaviours. As Joanna L. Keating writes in her book,  (A is for Autism, F is for Friend) "There is a huge rainbow of people, each with a variety of abilities, talents and challenges. Each person with autism (as well as any other person, for that matter) is a complete unique individual; no two are exactly the same.

Moreover MOE is encouraging inclusion. That's why they create a post called Special Needs Officer to support these children in mainstream schools. If society don't give these children a chance to learn and practice in mainstream school, how do you think they can integrate in society in their adult life?

If you do not know about a topic, take the intuitive to read up and understand about it instead of assuming and claiming to know it all when you don't.

Sorry, out stationed till now.  Yah, greendale spelling list may be a challenge, not so much of the words but spelling in sentences.
And I agree that  children with special needs need to learn to take care of themselves too.  So its good for them to go to a mainstream school but i think one with special needs teacher will be very good.  They are more patient and know how to teach these children better.
Just to let u know too that from what I know, Greendale does not have any special needs teacher.

Unfortunately, some parents are denying that their child needs 'special attention'. If the child is diagnosed with severe autism and needs a special attention, the parents should work together by showing the report to school teachers or enrichment teachers or tuition teachers. Tell the truth instead of denying, some are worst waiting for teachers to feedback or worst scenario until a classmate gets hurt.

Parents have to be responsible by highlighting to every teacher either in school or outside school if their children are diagnosed with special needs. By doing this, teachers will inform the classmates to take care of the special need child, something like that.

2nd Day Phase 2C registration

Mee Toh only left 86 seats. Today 2nd day of registration already 175 students registered.
Edgefield 184 seats. 2nd day registration was 116 students registered.
Greendale 306 seats. 2nd day registration was 144 students.

Wait till tomorrow last day of registration. Mee Toh will have about 90 students balloted out. If these 90 students choose Edgefield as the 2nd choice, even phase 2C supplementary also needs to ballot. Eventually will have to wait for MOE letter to be posted to the nearest school.

Parents can waitlist if balloted out. Not surprising during March holidays, the office admin will give a call to consider transferring to their school.

Be mentally prepared during the balloting.
