That's why I will not rely on my children next time. I know if they grow up in Singapore, no savings at all.

BTW, if you are a housewife, how to give money to parents? Poor husband leh....

Totally agree! Some Singaporean children NOT only didn't give $ to their parents, let their parents to wash their clothes even when they are in their late 20s or early 30s, and even asked parents to borrow $ to them.

If I am their parents, I would have kick them out of the house. They should learn how to be independent!

One that I know even asked her mum to wash her clothes for her as usual, and offered to give her S$10, when her mum said that her clothes are hard to wash, don't always wear/ change so many clothes. Speechless man.

If you have a handicapped sibling / child, lagi worse.  I had a handicapped sister who lived for 29 years.  When she had to be put in a nursing home, her nursing home bill was more than $1k a month excluding adult diapers.  Fortunately, there are 9 of us siblings to help split the cost.  I shudder to think what would happen if I were her only sibling.

I think it's better to depend on ourselves not on our children. Remember we have only 1 or 2 children.
