Yes...road usage is a personal responsibility. Ultimately, we can't expect the govt to do everything for us. If they do that... then we'll be complaining that they are too restrictive

To me, a road is a road, it is meant for motor vehicles, not pedestrians.
Just like in the other thread abt allowing cyclists on footpath(pedestrians pavement). It is meant for pedestrians, not cyclists.
Thus, if u want to cycle on pavement, cycle with care & give way to pedestrians,
If u want to jaywalk, cross the road with care, dun expect vehicles to give way. We are always advised to lookout for vehicles even at traffic/pedestrians/Zebra-crossing.

I agreed with Tigger, no matter what u do, be it crossing the road or swimming in open sea, it is ur own responsibility to take care of urself. There's limit the Authority can do. The rest is still up to u.

As what Americano has suggested, putting up barricade is one of the ways to discourage jaywalking. Though it is not 100% foolproof.

Just take this as a reminder to those who has children, educate them on proper lookout if there's a need to jaywalk.

Putting up barricades won't solve the problem... hv seen young kids and old ppl climbing over the barricades set up... education is key... must teach our kids safety at all times...
