Singapore is a small country, with a small population..so of course with fewer talents..
Even if there r sports talent around, sad to say that not many will get noticed or groomed or r willing to excel in sports as their career...(cos in the past pple usually think it as "mei qian tu")..So the mentally of our society oso builds up all this...Maybe this is the best that the govt think they can do at the moment, by pulling in foreign sports talents...I believe in every happening, there is always a good n bad side that we have to accept..
In fact, we shld be proud of S'pore n being a S'porean...
If u hav travelled to the less developed countries or even some developed countries, u will come back appreciating our country/govt more...At least for me, i feel tat our country is clean, safe & convenient..
It's a comfort place that i call home.. smile

Quote :

" SINGAPORE : Singapore is saddened by the decision of national table tennis player Zhang Xueling to leave for China, but it respects her wishes to be close to her family.

Ms Phua had said Zhang's decision to leave was the latest addition to the count of 3 basketball, 6 hockey, 1 football and 1 badminton player who had since left their sports. "

Personally, I feel Singapore should wake up and do some simple mental arithmatic. You know once in Vietnam, I was proud to tell my business friends there, about how our country, a little red dot in the ocean, manage to scoop  gold medals in sports. You know what happen ?

The group laughed and laughed hilarously, the mini-restaurant almost topple. Of course being a Singaporean, I was  Angry Sad mad  and  demanded an answer. They asked " why you have blacks, ang mohs, africans in your team. " You people never win " is a blant answer.

What can I say.....I got to be  Lips Sealed . What to do ?.........I felt a little bit disgrace ..........

dun like that lah, because of most singaporean mentality, that's why singapore govenment have to buy talent elsewhere, hoping to do  made the country proud. they do it with good intention i dun think they mean to made us feel disgrace Lips Sealed Lips Sealed Lips Sealed
