Yes u are rite ....but dont think everyone is like u ...have the money to invest
is not their choice to have their cpf all wipe out .......think

I tot when we buy HDB first must clear all the cpf money first ....
unless someone pay cold hard cash

As if u never dump in all ur cpf ...money

no choice lah...dump all his CFP money into this estate. Have to console himself.

If you have parked your cpf $ into some investment before buying hdb flat, cpf cannot wipe out everything.
After buying flat, sell investment and $ goes back into cpf.
Reason being simple....
At least having some $$ in cpf, just incase anyone is jobless, the remaining $$ in cpf can still pay for the flat.
If everything wiped out, anything happened, you think the elites will help you?
It is always safer to protect ourselves and be prepared for rainy days unless you are 100% sure the economy is going to be good forever..

Just imagine this scenario:-
Today u buy your flat, and let cpf wiped out everything from your cpf account.
2 weeks later suddenly your company closed or a major retrenchment, and you are suddenly jobless..
You cpf account not enuf $ to pay for the next month hdb loan.. HOW??
You may say..very unlikely lah... but remember, dun take things for granted. I rather be safe.

i would say that its a matter of personal choice how you'd like to plan your finances.. i too dump all my CPF into the flat cos this way i'm able to repay my loan within the next 10 yrs when i'm still deemed employable based on my age..

that is also the reason why i'm pretty glad to see that our flat's resale value is still high compared to many other estates.. at least most of us can still get some good cash upon selling the flat and refunding of our CPF.. hope this trend lasts...
