I tot when we buy HDB first must clear all the cpf money first ....
unless someone pay cold hard cash

As if u never dump in all ur cpf ...money

no choice lah...dump all his CFP money into this estate. Have to console himself.

If you have parked your cpf $ into some investment before buying hdb flat, cpf cannot wipe out everything.
After buying flat, sell investment and $ goes back into cpf.
Reason being simple....
At least having some $$ in cpf, just incase anyone is jobless, the remaining $$ in cpf can still pay for the flat.
If everything wiped out, anything happened, you think the elites will help you?
It is always safer to protect ourselves and be prepared for rainy days unless you are 100% sure the economy is going to be good forever..

Just imagine this scenario:-
Today u buy your flat, and let cpf wiped out everything from your cpf account.
2 weeks later suddenly your company closed or a major retrenchment, and you are suddenly jobless..
You cpf account not enuf $ to pay for the next month hdb loan.. HOW??
You may say..very unlikely lah... but remember, dun take things for granted. I rather be safe.

self-employed who usually declare lesser income to prevent paying high income tax. They will pay cash to top up.

unless that person wants to take the max loan 30 yrs? Goodness, whole life keep on paying debts.

Oh no, even you have not taken up 30 years HDB loan, you should also taken up the loan from buying the car which is either 7 or 10 years. Think about it, you think the car belongs to you ? The expiry date COE is 10 years and you have to renew it (another payment) if you wish to extend. You can renew it until you cannot, you have to sell it at market value for second-hand / scrap metal rate. You still cannot keep the car unlike other countries.

When you stay here, you are always paying and paying....but not necessarily in debt. You use the service and naturally you have to pay for it. It not the debts you are paying.  Wink
