try the drive to South Island.....they have the safest road and greatest scenery...
....maybe you can start your journey from Christchurch, drive all the way to the Western part and then take a scenic train from greymouth back to Christchurch for your plane home so you will not be too tired and keep driving... Wink

for those who dun drive....lot of coaches to take... winked

Heard that one part of NZ is really city like and one part is more country... but dont know which one stick tongue

how do one return the car if he or she drive to south island and then take the train back?
planning on going to NZ next year.
