To escape from the hustle & bustle of noisy Ho Chi Minh city, where thousands of motor-cycles haphazardly ply every single inch of HCMC roads, drive the next 2 hours leisurely, you'll come to a small jetty @ the Mekong Delta. Board a motorised wooden boat to My Tho Village.

First some pictures of the jetty followed by a video clip of the river cruise....

This is one of the many similar motorised wooden boats that ply the Mekong Riverway daily picking passengers / tourists alike to My Tho Village for work and for leisure....

Once step ashore, fruit trees and souvenir shops ( resembling our pasar malam ) lined the island. At one stop, we were invited to sit down to watch vietnamese sales girls selling and demonstrating on the benefits of drinking honey with pollen / water.

This is the video clip....

At the next stop, fruits were served ( dragon fruits, pineapple, papaya etc ). Vietnamese girls were singing their traditional folk songs to entertain guest and tourists.

In Singapore a kilogram  of durain can cost between $ 16 to $18. Here at the fruit station, reasonably good durain were sold at only 70,000 dongs per kilo. ( about $4.50 )
