Hi mummies and daddies, waving

On the topic of enrichment and learning, those who may wish to increase their children's keeness in reading and learning may wish to look into the following:-

The STAR ADVANCED READING & COMPREHENSION programme is for the advanced learner between age 7 - 9 years old, whereby the focus is on improving the child's interest in reading books of different genre and building their vocabulary.

For weaker primary one students who needs more help in pronouciation, blending and spelling of words, you may wish to consider:

The STAR Phonics Programme is a 40 week programme, where in each lesson, children are exposed to four sections of learning, PHONICS time, STORY time, READING time and FUN time! STAR PHONICS programme are conducted in such a way that the child learns both pronounciation as well as writing the alphabets.

As a licensed trainer to teach the above programmes, i would like to emphasise that children learn best through interactive activities and by engaging them in the area of speaking and reading.

Developed by a a team of educationists in Singapore and guided by ASST Prof Linda Gan, lecturer at the NIE in the division of specialised education, STAR PHONICS is a phonics based programme for beginning readers, especially for pre primary kids between the ages of 4-6, learning the pronounciation of letters and blending them to form words. STAR PHONICS has been offered in Singapore since 1998 and has been extremely well received by parents and educators, this programme is also introduced in several primary schools to help the weaker students who has problems in pronouncing and writing the letters and words.

. If you would like to find out more, please feel free to drop me an email at starphonics@gmail.com or at 90498488 Alethea Ng.

Cheers!

Hi smart_mummy,

Why don't you post this under a new thread? What you offer certainly seems interesting but I'm afraid it's too cluttered in this thread.

Besides, the vibes of the postings here are about people with vested interest and bad-mouthing schools because they were not given a chance to 'sell' their enrichment programmes. Perhaps you're new to this forum, it's better for you not riding on such negative bandwagon.

That aside, are you conducting your phonics classes at Pearl Student Care Centre? I intend to send my younger one to the student next year. Do let me know. Thanks.

Hi Spring,

Thanks for your advice,

yes, i've just joined this forum, hence didnt know about the "badmouthing" enrichment classes part.

yes, i will be teaching the programme Star Phonics as well as the Star Advanced reading and comprehension programme as an added-on option for students to take on this enrichment class once a week during their time at the Pearl Student Care Centre. You mentioned that you are sending your younger kid there? In that case, you should be receiving two brochures on the above programes very soon. If you have not receive it, do email me at starphonics@gmail.com  to find out more or to request for more info.

hmm.. let me see how i can post a new thread on this forum.  thumbs up

cheers!
