Few months ago the authorities estimated most Singaporeans may live till age 90. Today it was reported in the HOME section of our local press that " SINGAPOREANS LIVE LONGER BUT SUFFER 8 YEARS OF POOR HEALTH "
Reason ?? " KNOCKED OUT BY DISEASE ( main cause of disability and premature death)

From the table, entitled " HEALTHEST PEOPLE IN THE WORLD " number of years they live in good health ( 2002 ) Singapore rank 25, Japan rank number 1. Women in Singapore living in good health ( 71.3 years old ) Singapore men living in good health 68.8.

So whatever it is, plus another 8 years living with cancer, heart disease, stroke, diabetes or  mental illness, it shows our average life span for men is 76.8 and women 79.3......

So the previous estimate is totally out.   Tongue

They can say whatever they like according to what message they intend to send.
Today say lifespan is 80 and above, tomorrow can say 200 years. All up to them
WTF!

Wow! What an amount!
Just a small % to help the old folks and needy would be sufficient.

Remember few months back when TV, Radio and the press were talking about the above topic.........The Govt. appointed a panel headed by Professor Lim Pin, to study, to recommend and fine tune the above policy. Any Pungollians knows what has taken place so far ? When will the final report going to be ready ?  chitchat
