Once bitten twice shy...
On 28May07 at 0625hrs, my vechicle sounded an alarm indicating that it had been tampered. Rushing to the car, I noticed that a culprit was still ransacking in it. With the help of a passer-by we managed to nab the culprit after a short chase and a little scuffling. When the Police from Jurong Division arrived, taking over the detainee, I was told to wait at my vehicle while the rest were told to disperse. What irked me most is that these men in blues
didn't appeared to appreciate our effort.I never ask to be rewarded but were these officers, far from commending us, not trained to offer citizens helping prevent crime to give encouragement words or a simple THANK YOU.
( A call to the I/O the next day seems fruitless as he doesn't seem to be interested ). Now, the question is...Is the government effort to promote courtesy among the civil servants got the message down after so many years? Has it gone down to the drain? I was indeed very saddened, disappointed and discouraged by our so call "The Nation Protectors" attitude.
Last but not least I do believed that these officers will finally get the credit for solving fews cases due to the arrest, while the public like us will get the injury and of coz the hospital bill to foot. Here again I would like to remind the fellow citizens to think twice before rendering help to the Police coz you are prepared to be ignored...As for me, I'll never want to get involve again and as the says going ...Once bitten Twice shy.
