Dear all concerned PG residents,
Pls see below reply fm NEA(in bold) pertaining to our air quality in PG :

Dear Sir/Madam,

We refer to your email below.

The  National  Environment Agency (NEA) monitors ambient air quality
through  a  network  of  11  air monitoring stations that are strategically
located  to accurately assess the ambient air quality in different parts of
Singapore.  Three  of  these  stations  are along the North-eastern part of
Singapore at Yishun ITE in Yishun, Pei Hwa Secondary School in Sengkang and
Siglap  Secondary  School  in Pasir Ris.  The air monitoring station at Pei
Hwa  Sec  School was specially set up in March 2004 to monitor the possible
impact  of  industrial  emissions,  which  could be carried over during the
North-east Monsoon period from industries to the North-east of Singapore.

The  ambient  air monitoring stations were established and are being
operated by the NEA in accordance with strict international guidelines.  At
the  air  monitoring  stations,  we  monitor  the  major air pollutants viz
sulphur  dioxide,  particulate matter, carbon monoxide, ozone and oxides of
nitrogen that are internationally used to assess ambient air quality. These
air  pollutants  have  also  been  selected for monitoring purposes as they
could  give  rise to chronic health effects associated with exposure to air
pollution.
We  would like to reassure you that the NEA's monitoring shows that
the  ambient  air  quality  in  Sengkang/Punggol area is as good as the air
quality  in other parts of Singapore and the air pollutant levels there are
well  within  the  safe limits specified by the United States Environmental
Protection Agency and the World Health Organisation.

Should you need any further clarification, please forward you email
or you can call Mr Tan Seng Huat on 67319669 or Mr Lee Kwan Hin on 67319979
or me on 67319674.  You may also call our NEA Call-Centre on 1800-2255632
to provide your feedback.

Yours faithfully,

Liew Sip Joon
