I only quote it from the governmentla, because ever mentioned in newspaper that "Singaporeans, stop being choosy!" Tongue

BTW, my husband is NOT useless, but choosyla. He's very hardworking, no rest day for him, he'll work ot as security guard 12 hours. Last time, work day shift 12 hours, follow by night shift, continue with day shift.

Only when get scolded by me upside down he dare not do again. Tongue

It all boils down to how hungry you are and your perception. But you know Chinese always want "face". Its tragic esp in Singapore. As a chinese saying goes, The more bitterness you eat, the better you are" I don't know how to translate in Chinese but I do believe in it. Many Sinkies are not exposed to the world and very sheltered by the govt. In the end, who will suffer and will the govt really take care of you in the future? You can see that they are taking away from the benefits that your parents used to enjoy in the 80s and things are getting more XX. A word of advice: Good luck for those who want to be choosy. if you don't eat your lunch, someone will. thumbs up

That's exactly, 10yrs time, the population flooded with all the children of these countries.

SG children need to be independent not 'maid' syndrome.

I see the reverse happen, more children have maid syndrome than ever before.. sigh

Think parents play a part. Cannot push the blame to children. When u have a maid at home, how many times will you bring cutleries to the basin after use? How many times will you wash the dishes? How many times will u mop the floor? Do u let your maid does every single chore, including pouring a cup of water for you? Do u let you maid do all the ironing?

I bet all listed above are presumed to be maid's job. Children are merely modeling the adults. If they ve everything being looked after by the maid, its very difficult to be independent.

IMO, children can start to look after themselves when they hit the age of 7yrs. I feel tat maid shd go home when children starts nursery sch. Since there are day care around. Really dun need a maid any more. Muz let the Children learn taking care of themselves.

Yup. Agreed. An example, a friend of mine, got a maid and slowly her children will get the maid to carry their bags to school. Why? Because every child is doing the same thing, get the maid to carry the bag. Now, the maid is gone and the children have to carry their own bags!
