We have been reviewing on the progress of New Housing Developments in Punggol. The Standard HDB Flats, the BTO'S and the Condos.

Lets spend some time reviewing the constructional progress of the only one Nursing Home in Punggol to keep our Senior Citizens up to date and or Punggollians with elderly parents who may want to know of it's development.

Surprisingly, it took only 25 working days to transform an empty piece of land into a Site filled with concreted foundations and footings, ready for column fabrication in a couple of day's time.

Earlier on, noticed a lone piling rig on site. Today it was replaced with only a lone mobile crane.

As we keep track of the progress of the above Nursing Home, we will also traced what the authorities had in mind to cater for the needs of those citizens 65 years and over, alone and frail.

In 2007, A Ministerial Committee was set up to look into active ageing for it's greying population. The Health Minister had five sub-committees working under him. Minister of state for community development was in charge of Home Care and Family Support.

Lets find out more about Home Care and Family Support :-

Under the above scheme two to three frail elderly residents will be housed in a rental flat. Help will be given in cleaning the place, laundry and meals may be provided. The residents can move about at will instead of staying in an old folk's home where routines are regimented. Services can be either provided by the ( VWO's ) or privately run companies. ( Health Care Provider )

By 2030 ( 18 years from now ) it is estimated 50,000 frail Singaporeans may be living in this setup.
