Cyclists in Tampines can look forward to bicycle lane extensions by a few kilometres. Furture extensions are on the drawing board to link up to park connectors. Sembawang and Woodlands also announced plans to follow suit.  Huh? Huh? The Land Transport Authority is also interested to look into improving cycling infrastructures. Huh? Huh?

So in future, we can see more cycling path, more cyclists, more bicycle parking bays, finally the bicycles may overtake motor cycles.

At the moment, reckless cyclists in Tampines are facing penalties. ........those who are caught riding recklessly, causing hurt or kill someone can be sentenced to one year jail, a fine of up to $5,000, or both. In the mean time, wardens will be posted to teach cyclists how to ride safely.

Smiley Smiley Smiley maybe in future cyclist may have to go for high-way code before being allowed to cycle on the proposed bicycle path around Singapore. ( Will it really happen in future ?? )

Normally the authorities will not imposed on anything, unless something drastic happens. Few days ago, in Henderson estate, a 52 year old man was knocked down by a 14 year old cyclist in a carpack.

The old man died of his injuries, six hours later in hospital. A doctor who rushed to the scene was shocked by what he saw. He was also surprised the man was in such a critical condition from a bicycle accident. Shocked

The bold lettering in our local paper, " Man dies after collision with cyclist at carpark ". This boy must be riding at top speed, probably at least 70 or 80 kilometre per hour, or even higher. The impact can kill a grown up man, what about children with elderly grandparents, aunties along coverways and pavements after grocery rounds ? They are at higher risk right ?

The Govt. should do something. At the moment, they are promoting cycling especially at Tampines GRC. If nothing is done, or takes time to do,  more injuries and lost of life and properties may occur.  Angry Angry
