wow, the ura plan look so solid ... but it is an impression or a dream or a puff of smoke
yea... used to have some vision for jalan bahar also... build so much flats there wanting to develop, but look at jalan bahar now... so many empty flats, ppl dun wan to move in cos inconvenient, then no development in the end cos not enough population to utilise the facilities (think oasis LRT... already built and ppl moving in but still cos not enough to maximize utility, still not opened yet
)
By 2010, Tengah will be developed into a residential area, Jalan Bahar will have a business park, and an LRT system will be in place, linking Jurong Island with Bukit Batok. Jurong East will have watersports and its own yachting marina. Jurong River and Tuas will see business parks, and as a consequence, the MRT will be extended to Tuas. The latter may have some wafer fabrication industry, and sixty percent of its land area will be used for industry, compared to only twenty-eight percent presently. Singapore's first desalination plant will also most likely be built there.

i think only the "MRT will be extended to Tuas" is going to be realised??? cos now building to pioneer towards NTU already...
well... the
developed then populate, or
populated then develop issue is kinda "chicken and egg" but now i understand the issue u sweeties trying to raise is that why have all these visions since so many years ago but never carry out the 'beautiful plans' to benefit residents that have already moved in due to the "vision". yea, the ura plans look darn solid right?! but if the original plans are not carried out... i guess some residents might feel "cheated" in some ways... right?
