Today we have a population of 5 million. Out of the 5 million, 1 million are foreigners. Our total land area is only 700 sq. km. works out to a density of 7,142 people per sq.km. We are on top of the list as the world’s most densely populated country. Still Singapore hope to bring in another 1.5 million foreigners.
Comparatively, UK, US, France, Switzerland, Sweden, Australia, Japan to name a few, their population density range from 3 person per sq. km. to 490.
The authorities are worried, if we don't bring in more foreigners our economy will come to a standstill, particularly in those areas where it is difficult to get Singaporeans to work "
When will we stop and where are we heading to ? Building 40 storey high HDB flats will only solve housing problems. Do we have enough land spaces for them to move around ?
