Hmmm......sounds like you're in quite a fix. I read the thread on Dayspring. Seems like a pretty reputable school too.

Faced with both equally good centres, you might want to ask yourself what you really want for your child. For me, I would choose St Anne's because I'm a Catholic. I used to attend mass at St Anne's until I joined the ministry at Nativity Church in Hougang.

If your motivation is not religious, then you might wish to explore other areas like teachers, curriculum, environment and how frequent / forthcoming is the communication between the schools and parents, etc.

Hi Elsa,

I'm a Freethinker so religion is not an issue, maybe i need to compare their curriculums as it's my main concern.

Is any of your children studying at St Anne? as heard from the forum, the turnover rate is high for the teachers.is it true?

Hi Public,

My kids are already in primary school. I placed them at a childcare centre during their preschool years because I'm a full-time working mother. No choice...

Teachers' turnover is prevalent throughout the industry, not just at St Anne's. In US, schools fight for teachers due to the drain and turnover of its quality teaching staff. Locally, teachers are also leaving the profession by hordes (primary, secondary & higher levels). Of course, we can attribute many reasons to the exodus but this phenomenon will need to be discussed on its own thread / topic! There's just too much to say! I should know, I'm a JC teacher.

Why don't you make an appointment to visit St Anne's? Speak with the principal and find out more on a face-to-face basis. Besides gathering facts, you can see how the place is run. Critical points to look out for will be the school culture, sights and sounds. Are the children meaningfully engaged? Do they seem happy? Do the staff seem happy with what they are doing, etc? While you might not be able to garner much from a single visit, you can depend on your instincts and intuition to assess the place.
