My gynae used to give me this ancient chart (I lost it.... sorry) to help in determine the sex of the baby. Accurate for me and some of my friends. Maybe you can try checking up in the internet..

To have a Baby Boy, must conceived on ovulation date.
To have Baby Girl, conceive Before ovulation date.

Reasons:
Y sperm dies faster. Swim fast but short life span. So hit the egg and form. Cannot find fertilized egg, die.
X sperm swim slower but longer life span than Y. Cannot find fertilized egg still can wait a while. At least 3 days I think...

there is the chinese calendar to predict the gender in the month of conception. can check this website:
