Outbreak of HFM in Childcare centre

Yes, I think in most childcare, there'll be occasional 1 or 2 cases of HFM outbreak, like my kids' CC. But like what Alaska said, at least the CC informed you, it's your choice to pull them out during that period.   
I understand that there're mainly 2 strains of HFM virus, the current one that's circulating around seems to be the slightly "harmless" one.  In fact, there seems to be no medication required for this except Panadol for fever if any, and to hydrate & rest the kids, that's all.
Off course, the other strain of virus is more deadly, it's the one that caused the true "outbreak" in late 90's where lots of CC closed to stop the spreading; and few children were dead due to the complications.
But saying that, like what H20seekers mentioned, we as parents must monitor our kids hygience & check them frequently.. I don't think any parents want to take a chance.
