Ideally a mother should breastfeed her baby for a long as possible ... I have known of a mother who did it until her child is 3 years old ...

The official guidelines:

World Health Organisation - All mothers should have access to skilled support to initiate and sustain exclusive breastfeeding for 6 months and ensure the timely introduction of adequate and safe complementary foods with continued breastfeeding up to two years or beyond.

American Academy of Pediatrics -  Exclusive breastfeeding is ideal nutrition and sufficient to support optimal growth and development for approximately the first 6 months after birth....It is recommended that breastfeeding continue for at least 12 months, and thereafter for as long as mutually desired.

I'm agreeable with the above statements too Smiley. I've made a pact with my girl to stop when she turns 3 this year, but I dunno if she really understands it or if she'll keep her promise when the time comes. Actually, she's breastfeeding very little nowadays, but I don't like the "antsy" feeling I get sometimes when I'm breastfeeding her. That's why I'd rather stop when I still have good feelings abt bfg her, then when I start scolding her. Hmm...hope you get what I mean.

Just a question, at which age do mommies think breast feeding should stop?

It's up to yr decision. Are you a working mother?
