Hi, my 4 yr old boy cannot see clearly at times. Recently, he started rubbing his eyes very often. I brought him to SK polyclinic for eye check up n they referred him to a specialist at KK. Today, we saw the specialist and they did some test on him. He is diagnosed with only Astigmatism. Left 75 and right 100.
The specialist dismissed the rubbing of eyes as sensitive eyes only. She says rubbing of eyes has nothing to do with Astigmatism. But i doubt her explanation and started surfing the internet for more info. I was shocked when all of the websites associated Astigmatism with straining of eyes, fatique, rubbing of eyes. Y then the specialist said otherwise?
I feel tat she is not being very professional. She even mentioned some kids with Astigmatism of left 50 and right 50, needed glasses. Then she went on to say, so long as my boy does not have a concern, then just leave it. She also mentioned his eyesight is now 6/12 coz its affected by the astigmatism..... now, wat does she mean by not having a concern? I mentioned clearly that he cannot see at times, and he rubs his eyes so often.
Anyone here can offer some advice please? I am a worried mummy now! Any of u here experienced this b4? Will he be able to see the whiteboard clearly in school? Or he will just 'switch off'
