Some 3,600 Singaporeans donate S$450,000 in GST Credits

  It's true lah.....those are kind people. If I am not mistaken, GST credits are meant to offset the 2% increase in GST effective 1st. July 2007. Donations to charity and GST payouts to Singaporeans are probably 2 different issues.  :)My point is why not accept the offsets first, later donate them to charity.

GST increases will be presumably an on-going affair. my worry is, since some Singaporeans don't need the offsets, the authorites may just do away with the offsets in the next round. Hope it won't go this way.

It's be good if during income tax filing, there is an option to donate part of our tax to charity.
But it'll never happen!
When we pay, no such things!
But when we receive money, always an option for us to donate the money away.
