Punggol residents may be young today, but time flies. Our new estate is almost coming to 8/9 years. For pioneer residents in Punggol, we are all 8 or even 9 years older today.

Researchers found out that people who keep doing some work in their own profession, enjoys  better mental and physical health than those who stop work completely on retirement.  Smiley Smiley They compare this with a motorist slowing down gradually, comfortably to a stop at a traffic light than to brake his car suddenly and receive a jolt.

Friends in their 50's may say, " I'm going to retire, I'm sick of work, I'm going for tours with my wife and enjoy life. Not to worry, I have the money, lets be happy.

Huh? But wait, lets do a simple arithmatic. Forget about tours for a time being. Lets say one month a retired couple needs to spend $1500 for monthly household expenses. One year $1500 X12 = $18,000. Living for the next 30 years for example, $18,000 X 30 = $ 540,000.  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes What about those who spends more ? The amount does not even include medical expenses. So how much is actually enough ?

So most researchers believes,  the best policy is still to continue working, in much lesser work load, to suit our age, remain active both physically, mentally and financially independent.  cheers
