The percentage drops to 14% when it comes to PMEBs (Professionals, Managers, Executives & Businessmen). The above table indicates, the more successful you are, the more you would want to continue working, whether in different professions or in business. So in order to keep up with your present life styles, you continue working. Retirement is out of question. ( this is Singapore ).
30 years ago a 5 room slab block HDB cost $30,000. Today it cost almost $300,000 with a smaller built-up area.
Which means to say prices inflated more than 10 times. $1 in 1977 is todays $10.
10 years from today, we really don't know what will happen. So most Singaporean are not sure when they can really call it quit. Is this due to inflation ? greed of businesses ? Cost of most items are purposly made to accelerate in prices ? Or what ?
