Singapore took a mere 45 years to develope from third world to first world. Rather, from a slum ( where most stay in kampongs / villages without proper sanitation ) to today's high rise buildings.
In the good old olden days, a household ( those living together ) had grandfather, grandmother, parents, brothers and sisters, uncles, aunties, niece, nephews, wow almost 30 people staying in a village house surrounded by coconut trees. Cool clean air, no traffic noise, it's fantastic.

In Schools, in the good old golden years, students were taught " moral education ", " filial piety " and many more regards living in harmony and respect for each other. Today youngsters are influenced by the Internet, chat sessions, pornography, violence, gang fights, you name it you got it in the Internet.
Today, I was told by some of my Indian friends that in India, some marriages are still match-make and it last a life time. In Singapore some of our upper primary school kids even fall in love. You can see them often in public transport. This is Singapore, one united nation.
