It was always stated that 20 % of Singaporeans are classified as poor or lower income or low income. ( Presumably people who are jobless, working part-time or working with very little pay ) Some may even have to depend on social welfare.  oops

The next 60 % are the middle income category ( Singaporean earning $ 4000 to $7000 per month ) The final 20 % category are the higher income earners supposed to be $ 7000 and above.  smile The rich ? earnings has no limit. ( 20% poor, 60% middle income and final 20% high income ) are based on revision of the consumer price index for household on different income groups ( 2004 ).

If the above data is correct, the poor may favour Polyclinics, the poor has no alternative but to wait  smile smile they may not have enough money, but time maybe no problem.

The middle income can afford to go to the GP and referals may prefer a Private Hospital. Probably the middle income has no time but money no problem. thumbs up

The rich has no problem, maybe can even go overseas for medical treatment etc.
