Jaywalking is alot safer compared to crossing at Punggol's traffic junctions.

If I jaywalk, the cars are at least 50m away from me. When i cross at traffic junctions, drivers stop only 3m away from me, or they zoom pass just 2m behind me, while i'm crossing. I trust myself alot more than drivers who have trouble giving way to pedestrians.

"jaywalk" used to be very safe in Punggol. The roads are straight, there are few corners. pedestrians can see cars easily. Now, with all the bushes planted under the LRT track, it is much more dangerous to cross the road. however, it is still safer than crossing at traffic junctions.

a boy was hit by taxi, crossing at traffic junction in punggol just a few months back.

But how about people using the bridges ? What's the point of building bridges where people choose to jaywalk ?

urrrhhh, your logic is quite chim... can see that you are trying very hard to justify jaywalking. if it is safe and alright to do so, there probably will not have laws against it.

crossing at the junction when the "man" is green is definitely safer than jaywalking or crossing when the "man" is red.

if you have kids, for goodness sake, pls dont teach them your logic. you are posing dangers on them. my 20cents worth.

Crossing the streets is an artform-you need to check safety distance, blind spots and any puddle of water unsuspectingly popping up when you cross? As long as you cross at the correct zones, away from the zebra crossings, and don't shoot out from parked vehicles, these are fundamentals that pedestrians don't care to review.
