Grassroot volunteer means joining the RC (resident committee) nearer to your block.

Phase 2B under Grassroot leaders are usually begin for application in the month of June. Even though MOE starts the phase 2B in August. Because the MP needs to endorse the application.

Now already Oct, 8 more months to go till June'09 to register for 2010 intake. Honestly, I don't know whether it is too late, it depends heavily on human relationship I guess.

Even parents' volunteer in school, you need to get someone to pull you in (pull-string). Otherwise, the principal or those admin staff will simply said no more vacancies.

Exercise cautiously on your inter-personal/EQ skill...... need to be a real thick-skin to get all the 'strings' ready.

Hi Alsaka,

Hahaaa....I didnt know the principal of Rivervale likes suckling pig. I better go tell my friend.....

Hi Minigrace,

Anyway just a note to add on to what Alsaka has said abt joining grassroot volunteer. Ur house will still need to fall within 1km of the school to secure a better place, whether u are joining as PV or thru grassroot volunteer. If your hse is outside 1km mark, it might be effort wasted, esp for those popular school that need to ballot at Phase 2B.

As for me, I would prefer to join PV of the school so that I can get to feel the school environment directly.  Perhaps like wat Alsaka said, some parents will go all the way to pull strings and do funny things. Each has their own way of doing things, and I cant comment much on it. Now I am just keeping my fingers cross and hope the school principal of my choice can see what I can offer for the school as a whole and invite me as a PV.

Btw, my child admission is 2011.

Now you still have time to do PV, as long as the school accept u. But u must write in now, and finish your PV by june next year.

Hi! Alaska,

Is your child in Rivervale Primary? How come you know so much about the school PV matters?
