I heard lah.....

But I think it is going to that direction lor...because these sports are very expensive. Again money matters.

But it is helpful to gain 1 point to enter to these sec schools.

Alaska, I think you hear too much...
For what I know is U gain points by your CCA points to get in those school which are looking for this type of student in Sec. However, if your child (not his / her CCA)represent club/ Singapore in competition might be consider to gain entry point.

If you'r going to spend lots of money to learn such sports, in the end you might not gain any point. Maybe just let them learn the sports, I think is good to have it as a skill .. social skill.. (just my point of view)

In fact, if you are able to enter "branded" school. U will have much help once you are out of school. Most of them from those "branded" hold a good job and you are able to have "these schoolmates" to help you in your network.

Most of my classmates not all are well known people, but a few of them I will see their faces on TV or in the papers. Not easy for us to meet, cos most of them always out of town. We can only meet up during wedding time lor...or email.

Er.. I didn't mean for you guys to think that far, this is just my point of view. It is just a plus point to know good / old friends during your school days. winked

ice cream, so those fencing and tennis sports are not true at all?

Chieh, my friends lor....say this and that. I think she's wasting her money letting her daughter to learn Tennis. Must let her know not necessary.

Never mind, first hurdle is to tackle is the P3 Gifted Programme Test first. Now letting my children to learn all the brain development programmes first.
I heard that P3 Gifted Programme Test is not inside the textbooks right? Based on the child's own performance on that day right?

Then from then on think of next step.

I thought Rosyth, Raffles, Ai Tong are also neighbourhood schools. So they're the branded neighbour branded school Huh?

I've lots of friends with their kids in so call branded school but so far i see them as average result students despite all the enrichment my friends have given them. Their kids are so pack with enrichment programs that i do wonder if they ever enjoy "childhood". I asked my friends why all the enrichment and all their answer are the same " to be on par with all their classmate.....". I think more like my friends all have this parental ego that their child(ren) are the best or has/have to be the best.

Also, why let the kids learn tennis, golf and fencing at such young age? They can learnt to pick up tennis at teenage age where they are bigger and stronger and have better control of the tennis racket. I played tennis myself and can associated with the injury that tennis can bring to a young child. Golf and fencing when they find the interest in the sports themselves.  I still think the tradition badminton, swimming, basketball and table tennis is good enough for them.

I went to accompany my friend to Tanglin Tennis Club. My goodness, i think I am 'a frog in the well'. Not many Singaporean Chinese attended the Tennis lesson. Mainly Japanese and Ang Moh kids. They don't learn to serve yet just learning the stroke. The tennis rackets are bigger than their face.

Don't call Branded school lah... let's call top 10 schools in Singapore.

Sometimes, it is the Principal that plays an important role. He/She knows how to motivate the students and teachers, go towards a common goal, together with parents co-operation. Everything will be a success to that school.
