" 第子规 " is one part of confusius teaching (Mee Toh sch gave a copy of the book to the Pr 1 pupil, taught during CME).

Agreed to the points stated and am teaching my boys to do so. As they are still young and playful,  so always have to remind them.

Knowing tt kids are playful at times, I'll not give my boys 'face' if they are naughty when they are out. Juz can't stand kids being noisy and a nuisance, everything must hv a limit.  chitchat

I got this " 第子规 " in VCD, 40pcs altogether..frackly it is not only good for the child, it is also good for the parent.
Anyone like to borrow can let me know.  thumbs up thumbs up

Effective parenting also occurs when both Dad & Mum agree on and execute the same discipline methods.  Many a times children find loopholes in the disciplne system and get a way out.  That is why sometimes your child goes to the more lenient parent when he/she has done something wrong.  You will be surprised how fast these young children learn to do such things. If your child knows that it is going to be the same outcome whether he/she tells Dad or Mum, he/she will not resort to such "underhand" means.

Also, children go out of hand because they do not know where the boundaries are.  Parents must make it a point to always remind the child about the boundaries and teach them important values as and when the opportunity arises. Just the other day I saw a parent giving his young boy toddler some coins to put into the doggy donation box (SPCA) at Ang Mo Kio's NTUC and explaining to him which organisation he had donated to and what the organisation does. I think that is something very good.

What I feel is that many young couples nowadays just want a child and fantasize about how fun it will be with the new addition but they do not realise that it is not just about giving birth to him/her and that is it. To be a parent is more than just taking care of the child's physical needs but also inculcating the correct values and moulding his/her character.

Start right from Day 1!
