Hi,

My kid will be in P1 next year too and I AM planning to quit my job to care for her after school. You can call me a kiasu parent too but I started thinking about this watching my colleague trying to cope with the incessant ringing of her phone (her kids trying to get her to hurry home to give them spelling) while trying to devote the other half of her attention to meeting deadlines/staying focused in meetings. I realised that no matter how good my helper is, she cannot provide the kind of close supervision and guidance we as parents desire. My belief is that we need to start the kids off right at this tender age, so the chances they stay on the right track are high. This includes setting up a healthy routine/discipline, close supervision of their schoolwork, imparting to them the right values, as well as helping them to develop the learning and thinking skills critical to their success later on. Of course, ensuring they have proper meals and sufficient rest are a given. If you want help minding your kid as well, we can discuss...although this is really planning quite way ahead  Tongue

provided financial burden and materialistic are not in the priority list for the family. Should be a positive movement.

However, if a wife likes to spend on branded items, etc. May be this path will not suit her in the long run.
