hi all, I believe we can voice out and write constructive feedback to the relevant authorities including our district mayor.... Dear Officer-In-Charge, I had read this piece of sad news in today Straits Times http://www.straitstimes.com/BreakingNews/Singapore/Story/STIStory_461933.html. This, infact, was not the first accident that happened along Punggol Field Road. Infact I believe the last accident was in June 2009 when two cars collided into each other in the cross junction of Punggol Field Road (area C of inserted map). Living in this area, we had witnessed many of such accidents along the stretch and hopefully this will be the last tragic accident before the relevant authorities took some action. http://www.punggol.sg/forum/general_discussion/accident_across_punggol_plaza-t28314.0.html Suggested actions: 1) To construct fence fully from point A to C. Noticed that there is fence constructed along A but stop mid-way. I can provide heaps of photographs where teenagers will dangerously bounce their balls while jaywalking and walking towards the basketball court. 2) To remove flat concrete slabs in the central divider from encouraging people to jaywalk. 3) To trim down or remove the plants in the central divider to improve the visibility should anyone still jaywalk after implacing the fence 4) To put a speed camera at point C to reduce the number of speed drivers. There are too many speeders along this road, both motor cycles and cars. Also the U-turn in point C is dangerously position, more often than not, the drivers could not be able to see the incoming vehicle from the opposite direction. Hopefully, some actions will be taken before the next accident occur. We do not need another death/accident statistic to prove this stretch of road is really dangerous!

Dear Bubblesha,
Just curious to know how you can teach a 5-year old to "always look back and reflect oneself" when crossing the road ?

Something behind the scene... That Malay driver who rammed the gal... Is Super "famous" around the area. 1. Speeding at high speed around the area. (Like his father's road) 2. Blasting off engine noise at around 3 - 4 a.m below HDB's void deck. None stop blasting till almost everyone screamed out of window. 27 yrs old yet behave like Noob. Got car so wat? can guai lan?
Super inconsiderate! (Wonder y his car still in 1 piece) By the way, i think that f***** illegally mod his car. Impreza doesn't sound like tat!
Answer to y punggol field so many accidents? nah... not becos no pedestrian crossing lar no this no that... Check it out man... behind punggol field that stretch of road from the new underpass to the punggol temple... Its a racer's heaven to drag... so even if they make a left turn into punggol field. They are still at very fast speed...

Drivers want to drive fast, get from point A to point B fast without killing people. Drivers are proposing to block their neighbours from crossing the road; Say it is too dangerous to walk across residential road with 50km/h speed limit. Although speed limit is 50km/h, almost all drive at above 60km/h.
Pedestrians want to cross the road, get from point A to point B, shortest possible distance, shortest time taken. Do not want to get knocked down by motor vehicle. Every day, hundreds of punggol residents cross the road to reach Punggol Plaza or bus stop; rather take risk than walk further, take longer time.
Car knock into people -> propose block people from crossing the road -> no more people get knocked down
Car knock into car how? propose no cars on road, all take MRT/ LRT -> no more car accidents?
Pedestrians no brain, don't know safe or not to cross road; must protect them, keep them safe, setup fences to prevent them from crossing the road? need barbed wire on top of fences or not ?

Barb wire above fences? wa ! u super army style~ i like~ But y don't position 1 RP there instead? Anyone attempt to cross the fences get shot ? Vehicles above speed limit get their wheels confiscated & who ever is in that vehicle, push ups 200 times on the road(knock it down)? Classic man~

so fast do the the workshop no business liao! driver use eye to see lah. if the road is so safe no need to see then no need licence liao loh. so fast take action then other trade no business then will create economy down turn already! After so many accidents, wandering why the authorities are doing nothing up to now. At least our constituency representative or grassroots should have paid a courtesy call at the bereaved family who's beloved kid had been knocked down. A careful study, steps to be taken, mistakes rectified, discussions and education to be held to prevent future accidents. NOTHING Something which we cannot understand. WHY WHY, the whole stretch of space directly under the LRT are design like a Rain Forest. Trees are grown densely right up to the underside of the LRT concrete structure. Drivers along this stretch of road are at risk of knocking someone who may suddenly walk across the road from the thick undergrowth. Theres no way for the driver to notice any pedestrains crossing. Early in the morning before 6 am, Malaysian registered lorries loaded with fruits for PRIME SUPERMARKET used this stretch like a Malaysian Highway. Speeding with engines louder than our army tanks. Why Why are they allowed to do so. Singapore has no traffic police or they have'nt started work yet Many things had gone wrong. Something needs to be addressed.

i disagree wif u 2... its becos.. we're humans... Being so... When things happened then we talk over it. Start to take precaution of this and that... ppl tends to cross more safely driver tends to slow down more... And this will carry on for sometime.. then ppl will heck care again till something happens... Its like a cycle.. Y nobody do something about it instantly? becos Singaporeans... "Whats the rush?? Aiya... juz accident not long ago. They'll be more careful de lar. "

If they build a escalator going up to the LRT platform, it would be more convenient for residents to avoid tempting to cross the road. The lift to the LRT platform is quite time wasting while waiting for it.

are you looking for more information, or are you trying to blame the victims? remember, that's a 50km/h maximum, residential road, not an expressway. driver need to drive according to the environment. Punggol is a very densely populated residential area. there are columns supporting LRT track, bushes and small trees under the LRT track blocking views of pedestrians and drivers. When there's heavy rain, some of the trees bend over on to the road, blocking 1 lane. For safety, drive slowly, especially at night. there are many old people, many children in Punggol. 50km/h is the maximum. if necessary, drive at 40km/h, or even 30km/h and below if view is obstructed.

Yes Yes punggol is a very young estate, many young parents with many young children, please drive with care. Parents please please look out for the many heavy vehicles, there are many very heavy vehicles in punggol due to our ongoing development - waterway and many construction sites. So be very careful.
