https://community.hsus.org/campaign/protectseals_pledge_challenge/w367nen4o7bii53e?Over the past four years, Canada's beautiful harp seal nursery has been transformed into a scene of bloody carnage. The Canadian government has allowed more than one million seals—almost all of them babies as young as 12 days old—to be killed for their fur. The kill quota for 2008 is 275,000—5,000 more than last year.
But there is new hope for the seals. Right now, the European Commission is considering proposing a ban on the import and trade in seal products in the European Union—a move many believe could spell the end of commercial seal hunting globally.
Please take action today to let the EU know you support this ban! Humane Society International is actively lobbying the EU. Your action helps our efforts by showing the EU that there is worldwide support for an EU ban on trade in seal product. Sign the petition on this page.
