Today Singaporeans were given something " sweet "

1. It was announced in the press that the 4 % interest on CPF will be extended to the end of next year 2011.

It include savings in our special account, medisave account and retirement accounts. The amount is quite substantial because most banks in Singapore was at a record low at 0.51 %.

2. Medisave top-up for Seniors.

3. For those who travels regularly to Johor, an MRT line will be up and running by year 2018.

Since 8th January 2011, the press laid down spreadsheets regarding upgradings, improvements, additions, alterations to GRC's infrastructures, transport, amenities and high speed internet access indoors and out-doors, catering both for the old, the young and the middle-age. In fact the whole Singapore's population will somehow or rather benefitted.

What and where are the " sweets " ?

One : In Aljunied GRC you can expect a seamless network of park connectors linking to MRT stations, shopping malls and community spaces. Cycling tracks to be built-in.

Two : Three new MRT stations to be open in year 2017. Kaki Bukit, Bedok Town Park and Bedok Reservoir.

Three : To encourage senior citizens to lead active lifestyles, one in every ten blocks of HDB flats in the whole GRC will have fitness corners installed. More playgrounds, more childcare, more infant carecentres and more kindergartens.

Four : The motto nowadays is the word " GREEN ".The used of " leds " for 167 HDB residential blocks, 23 multi-storey carparks, with another 200 HDB residential blocks to be fitted with " LEDS " by year 2012.

Five : Solar panels will be installed at five HDB blocks in Hougang Street 31 and Avenue 3. Drains and walkways upgrading for private estates.

There are more to come…..so far, have you heard from any member of the opposition ? In the press, whenever they appear, they seem to disagree / quarrel  with each other most of the time. It is high time, they sit down, unite and discuss ways to contest the coming GE. Tell the public about what they intend to do for the next five years.

Dated 9th January 2011. The Sunday Times with big bold headlines splashed on it's front page : THREE MATURE HDB TOWNS TO GET $ 1 BILLION FACELIFT.

One : The Government will spent one billion over the next five years to rejuvenate and upgrade three HDB Towns namely : Hougang, East Coast and Jurong Lake.

Two : Hougang, East Coast and Jurong Lake will be the next three mature estates under the second phase of " REMAKING OUR HEARTLAND " ( ROH ) initiated by PM. Of course, the first is Punggol, which is in the process of remaking. Although our jets thundering sound is horrible, some times burning smell can be irritating, but at least work is in progress.

Three :Hougang is fast growing. There will be river-front public housing. Hougang Hub, the size of Century Square in Tampines will be up for tender in 2014.

Four : The 4.2 km stretch of century old Upper Serangoon road, 5th and 6th milestone will be tranformed into a heritage corridor complete with street " sculptures " better footpath and signboard storyboards.

Five : There will be a new one km waterfront walkway / linkway known as " Hougang Walk " linking Hougang Avenue 10 to the Town Centre, sports complex and Sungei Pinang. Residents can look forward to a host of recreational facilities around Hougang Town. Residents in Hougang is of course very excited to hear the news and look forward for the next five years.

The ruling party had already set an example : have a plan, tell the people in the constituency they wish to contest about the plan, tell the voters what the party intend to do,  Smiley probably they stand a better chance.
