Since the last comment on this topic, electricity prices had gone up several times.

The latest was yesterday. Big Bold Lettering in the press, " ELECTRICITY PRICES UP AGAIN NEXT QUARTER ", higher oil prices the reason for 5.4 % hike in tariff.

The charges will be increased from 21.69 cents to 22.87 cents per kilowatt-hour in the first quarter of 2010.  Grin Grin Since everybody is happily celebrating the new year, counting down, probably this is the best time to make the announcement. Happy mah, never mind lah, just pay.

But, the Utilities Service Provider is quick to explain. The average 4 room flat will pay an additional $ 4.70 per month.  Roll Eyes meaning you eat one bowl of " wan tan mee " less per month, OK lah cheap cheap.

oops But don't forget, it will still go up again and again and it will cost each Singaporeans hundredth of bowls of noodles when you totalled them up year after year.

" ELECTRICITY PRICES GOING UP AGAIN ", this time the second quarter, from April to June. The new rate will be 23.56 cents per kilowatt hour, about 3 % higher than the first quarter ( January to March ).

Again the experts said, " A family in a 4 room flat need only to pay $ 2.47 cents extra. Singapore Power said, " fuel oil prices went up from $99.38 per barrel to $102.95 per barrel in the first quarter. Also contributing to the increase is the operational fee.

By the look of it, up to end 2010, there will be an additional 2 more instalments. If it happens ; per year, there are 4 " GOING UPS "  Huh? Huh? Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

This time round, they call it " ELECTRICITY TARIFF REVISION "

Whatever is being called, it is still an " INCREASE " The increase is valid from 1st July 2010 to 30th Sept. 2010. Meaning,  from 1st Sept 2010, there will be an anticipated jack-up again.

Again they claimed ! " no big deal " if you own a 4 room flat, you only pay an additional $2.33........not enough to buy a bowl of " char kway teow "

What to do ? " BO PIAN "

" SP Services said households will pay more for their electricity from April, with their electricity tariff increasing by 6.1 per cent to 25.58 cents per kilowatt-hour.

On average, families in four-room HDB flats will pay about S$4.85 more a month for their electricity based on the new tariff ".

oops Those people kept increasing in a very smart way, not in one lum sum but in quarterly instalments. Lets keep track to see how much will be the grand total increases for the whole of 2011......per family per year.
