SINGAPORE: There are now 26,000 residents in Singapore who are aged 85 and above, and of these, two in three are women.

This is according to the latest figures on Singapore's population released by the Department of Statistics.

Our authorities should have the moral obligation to look after these group of people. Can these group of people has the means to buy the proposed " LONGETIVITY ISSURANCE " ? ( as proposed, 10% of the minimum sum had to be put aside for longetivity issurance age 85 and above )

The problem........probably they don't even had the means of proper meals.  Shocked

How come 85 becomes the benchmark age?
How may can live above 85?
First is the minimum sum, now is the compulsory wat-so-ever annuity.
If don't live pass 85, the $$$ gone for good. WTF!

This was reported in the REVIEW SECTION of our local newspaper dated 24 Sept '07.

They claimed that Singaporeans are living longer. Based on the death rates of the population in 2005, about 39 % of males and 53 % of females are projected to SURVIVE to the age of 85.

7 % of males and 11 % of females are EXPECTED to survive for 30 years to age 95.

smile how far this is true, we don't know, but hopefully the authorities will provide for those Singaporeans.
