yes, u read it right, i was scolded and threatened by this neighbour for calling the police when i saw her using the open fire stove (unattended) along her common corridor. And this is NOT the only fire hazards posed by the same person. I hv highlighted this issue to the TC, but almost 6 months after my very first email, the prob still exists.

Potential hazards are seen along the common corridor and aircon ledge of this unit. Personal belongings are also seen, chained to the HDB property at the void deck. I believe these personal belongings belong to the same person as she always sun her laundry at the common open space/exercise corner under the block. Residents of this vicinity (blk 171) can vouch for these.

Just now, I alerted the police at Sengkang NPC as I saw the owner using the open fire stove along the common corridor. A while later, the lady owner came up to my unit and blew up at me for being "kpo" as she termed it. She claimed that I was being "kpo" because I was staying 1 floor above her and even if a fire breaks out, it will not "burn my house". I told her of the potential hazard she is causing to her neighbours, she replied me "no fire has ever broken out after so many times she has been using the stove" and "we should only talk about this only when there is really a fire breakout". She even threatened me to "watch out" and "retribution will fall on me". I have already reported her remarks and threats to Sengkang NPC.

I was very stunned and upset by her remarks. She obviously does not see her mistakes, or rather oblivious to it. I really do not wish the case of pin pointing of responsibilities only AFTER any mishap has happened.

Is town council doing anything about this? A warning of chained bicycle was given on 26-5-10 with a seven days grant period for the owner to remove it. However, the bicycle is still here aft nine working days the warning letter is issued. is there any negligence on the town council?

anyway, i hv emailed the TC again, the press and the ministers. I hope our lives will not be threatened anymore.

Did you get a chance to find out if she is
merely renting the flat versus owning it?

Looks to me like she is a kampong type,
like in Malaysia.

I think any complaint letters to Town Council
should be accompanied by a copy to MP in your
area. Smiley

In the good old olden days in the Kampong / Village, the Member of Parliament works together with the Kampong chief to tackle problems.

If a resident in the village complains of chocked drains, the MP, his supporters and villagers will work together on a Sunday to clear the drain. Sometimes,  a proper drain was constructed. The MP really works with " changkol " in worker's uniform.

Normally Kampong folks used " well " water. The MP even suggested to run pipes and get piped water to a central location where kampong folks can fetch clean tap water with pails.

Kampong folks normally had nothing much to do, so they gathered, talked and sometimes ended fighting each other.  Wink Wink You know what happen  Huh? the kampong chief, the police will work together and resolve the problem amicably for both parties. Thats it, it's efficency and speed.

Today, Things are all run differently. People are more educated, System gets more complicated. Efficiency ? Speed ? Handling complaints, people to people interaction ? Probably getting worst off.

What to do ??
