EdLee, you claim to prefer to engage in conversations pertaining to facts and relevance. I looked at your responses to Tom.
This is why I say sometimes we are lazy. Do your research and you will know why. Just to make it easy for you, there are also military contractors in PLAB that service foreign military. You mean... you are living in Singapore but you are not aware of activities here?
You imply activities at a Singapore military air base should be well known to Singapore residents. In particular your words imply all Singapore residents need to be aware that there are military contractors in PLAB that service foreign military. Is my interpretation correct?
When residents complain that there are too many flying activities, the RSAF limits the activities as much as possible to weekdays which are usual working days. Weekends are technically for us to relax and chill out at home possibly. Clearly, regardless of how RSAF continues to mitigate these, there will always be people who will never be satisfied.
Propose a solution then. Shut down SAF completely? You will hear nothing from then.

You state RSAF limited activities to weekdays due to complaints. Do you have a link to a press release from RSAF stating this?
You asked for proposals, then cheapen your suggestion with the line "
Shut down SAF completely?". In effect, you are mocking Tom. Is this an example of your preference to "
engage in conversations pertaining to facts and relevance" ?
Suggesting that aircraft noise in Punggol is synonymous with SAF is a continuation of your postulation that without aircraft noise in Punggol, Singapore will fall. This is a False dilemma (false dichotomy)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/False_dilemmaEssentially, you are providing a choice of 1. Noise OR 2. Fall of Singapore
Obviously there are alternatives. We do not have to choose between tolerating noise, or suffer occupation by an aggressor.
One of those alternatives certainly is for residents to provide feedback to RSAF that the noise pollution is significant, and detriment to quality of life; and for RSAF to do its best to minimize noise.
Unfortunately, there will always be people who will never be satisfied about their lives. That's something we cannot help.
If people are always satisfied with their lives, wouldn't there be a danger that people are still living in caves?
