NTUC Eldercare plans to build 10 more day-care centres

NTUC Eldercare plans to build ten more day-care centres within the next five years. But it is closely monitoring demand as they still have vacancies in their four existing centres.

The elderly's mental, physical and social needs will be taken care of at the new day-care centre in Punggol South. Now under renovation, opening middle of 2008.

Smiley aiyoh it's OK lah. Today we may be in our 20's, or 30's or 40's strong and able. When we are lucky, don't have any sickness, we may live up to 70 or 80 years old. Finally, as we aged, we become weak, needs a caregiver, a maid or if the person is bed-ridden, he may end up in nursing homes. Very few are  lucky enough to live up to 70, 80 and the next day suddenly die of a heart attack.  oops ( peacefully goes to heaven )

Those that goes to the daycare centres normally suffers a stroke, wheel chair bound or people who had difficulties walking or probably needs physiotherapy after discharged from hospitals. Children may be busy working, no time for the aged parents, so no choice, got to bring them to a day care centre. Presumbably, most people will take this similar route.

So since most people will end up either in daycare centres or nursing homes in time to come, we may need those facilities sooner or later. As reported in year 2030, one million Singaporeans will be 65 years old and above.  smile smile For a time being, let our elders make use of PUNGGOL SOUTH facility first.  thumbs up

Need any kind of aid ? Call new helpline first.

Called ComCare Call, the 24/7 hotline was launched yesterday by Minister of Community Development with this promise. " There are no wrong doors, there are no wrong numbers ". " Just call 1800-222-0000 and he will make sure help gets to you ".  thumbs up

He added that the Govt. will do more to help needy Singaporeans cope with rising inflation by pumping more money into ComCare Fund.
