Fall Clinics

Falls in the elderly can give rise in the fear of falling. Fall prone elderly in their 60's and 70's may lead to reduced mobility which is a big burden to family members and care-givers.

This is one reason, why the hospitals in singapore are setting up falls clinics to treat and educated elderly people on how to prevent falls at home.

Organisations / hospitals who are providing treatment and education :

1. Tan Tock Seng Hospital Falls and Balance Clinics. Tel : 63578013
2. National University Hospital Falls and Balance Clinics. Tel : 67725733
NUH even has a model flat for the elderly showing potential fall areas. Call 67725168 for info.
3. Singapore General Hospital Mobility and Falls management service. Tel : 63214132.
4. Alexandra Hospital Falls Service. Tel : 64722000.

Be more cautious, falls in the elderly may be fatal.

Wheelchairs for the needly elderly.

Funded by the Ministry of Health, a ten million Senior's Mobility Fund had been set up to assist sick elderly to purchase wheelchairs.

The pilot scheme was started in the Tanglin-Cairnhill Ward by grassroot organisation and the MOH's Agency for Integrated Care.

It was reported that Constituencies interested to participate in the above scheme can co-ordinate with the Chief Corporate Officer ( MOH )
