Last week, when a picture of Punggol Arcadia was taken, only one overhead tower crane was working, the rest had been dismantled.

Today, that lone tower crane was also gone, meaning all high rise lifting work had been completed.

Work left to be done will be touching up rough patches of the whole building, painting and interior out-fittings.

Lets take a look at how such a huge heavy tower crane was taken down.

Dismantling process :  thumbs up

1. A hugh hydraulic system crane was tow to site, stationed and secured. Of course it had to be done by professionals / experts from the crane rental company. The crane driver, removal, co-odination within such a small space constraint needs special expertise. It's not easy. Everyone involved needs special engineering skill and expertise.

2. First, the weights, the crane booms, the driver's cabin had to be dismantled and carted away.

3. Followed by the tower cranes vertical steel structures. One section at a time.

4. It is then lowered onto waiting trailer on the ground and instantly carted away, probably to be reinstalled at another building site. ( after inspection )

Picture of a over head tower crane showing counter weight blocks, driver's cabin, crane boom and supporting vertical steel structures. Each section of the steel structure measures about six storey high.
